Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

"Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen" (released 2009) is better than its predecessor "Transformers" (released 2007). The cast and crew went way out of their way to create a very unique and awesome science fiction film. I was on the edge of my seat cheering on and rooting for the "good guys" throughout the entire 2 hours and 27 minutes of footage. The spectacular special effects made this viewer feel a part of the experience shared with the main characters; very remarkable.

"Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen" begins with Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf) finishing packing and ready for college. His mother, Judy Witwicky (Julie White), is of course a mess, already crying and carrying on about her "baby". The father, Ron Witwicky (Kevin Dunn), does his best to comfort his wife, only to make her worse. Sam while on the cell phone with his girlfriend, Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox), finds a shard of the Allspark as it falls from what he had been wearing when he first met the Autobots and fought against Megatron. Mayhem ensues as the released Allspark creates miniature Decepticons ravaging Sam's home. His mother of course is completely unglued by the miniature Decepticons destroying her home and front yard's landscaping. Bumblebee, residing in the garage, saves the day, but simultaneously ruins the garage door. Sam salvages the shard and places it in a container. These events do not keep Sam from leaving. At college, Sam meets his roommate who turns out to be a computer wiz who does not believe the "news media version" of events and is determined to prove that alien lifeforms are on Earth. At first, Sam tries to get a different roommate, but is told "no changes". Stuck with Fassbiner (Jonathan Trent) as a roommate, Sam, tries to make the best of college. He attends a party and meets a very fast Alice (Isabel Lucas) who refuses to take "no" for an answer. Alice turns out to be not the woman Fassbiner is madly in love with which eases the friction between Sam and Fassbiner. These events lead to the culmination of a very rocky start for Sam at college. The college experience grows worse when Sam "freaks out" on his first day in an Astronomy class by reading the Astronomy book in under five minutes, tells Professor Colan (Rainn Wilson) that "Einstein is wrong", then takes over the professor's chalkboard while talking rapidly explaining how. Professor Colan, unappreciative of Sam's burst of insight, demands Sam leave. Upset, Sam (realizing he should not have touched the shard of the Allspark) telephones Mikaela who explains how she found a small Decepticon in her garage and trapped it. This precipitates a chain of events that tailspin Sam, Mikaela and Fassbiner right into Sector 7 Agent Simmons (John Turturro) lap, actually Butcher Shop, in need of the Special Agent's assistance. This creates a very unlikely team who are forced (Fassbiner more reluctant than the other three) to stand against the Decepticons and their leader, The Fallen (who wants to harvest the sun for Energon, something the Decepticons need), in order to save Earth's sun from being destroyed.

Other primary cast (in order given by credits) included were: Josh Duhamel (Major Lennox), Tyrese Gibson (USAF Master Seargent Eips), John Benjamin Hickey (Galloway), Michael Papajohn (Cal), Glen Morshower (General Morshower), and Walker Howard (Sharksky).

"Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen" is available on DVD and rated PG-13, primarily for the military battle scenes. The Decepticons do much damage and mayhem. Highly recommend as a "must see", especially for Science Fiction fans!
